Baby Bob Marley Crochet Beanie

So in about 4 months I will become a Great Auntie…again! My nephew to be will have an awesome mom who loves Bob Marley. So…. I had to play with these colors and see what I could come up with.

I used a G hook and sport weight yarn. The finished hat measured 6 inches across the bottom. I hope it’s big enough for a newborn!

Color scheme: Red, Yellow, Green, Black. Change colors each row. See a tutorial on how to change colors here.

With Red
Start with a magic loop, or crochet a ring of 4 and join with a slip stitch
Rnd 1: Red. ch 2, 7 hdc in loop (8 hdc)

Rnd 2: Yellow. 2 hdc each st, join w/ slip stitch to complete row – (16 hdc)

Rnd 3: Green. ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, (1 hdc, 2 hdc next ) around, join w/ slip stitch – (24 hdc )

Rnd 4: Black. ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, (1 hdc in next 2 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch), join w/ slip stitch – (32 hdc)

Rnd 5: Red. ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, (1 hdc in next 3 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch) around – (40 hdc)

Rnd 6: Yellow. ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, (1 hdc in next 4 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch) around, join with slip stitch (48 hdc)

Rnd 7: Green. ch 2, 1 hdc in same stitch, (1 hdc in next 5 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch) around, join with slip stitch

Rnd 8: Black. ch 2, hdc in each stitch around, join with slip stitch.

Rnd 9: Red. Repeat row 8
Rnd 10: Yellow. Repeat row 8
Rnd 11: Green. Repeat row 8
Rnd 12: Black. Repeat row 8

Repeat rows 9-12 twice.

Remainder crocheted in Black. Ch 1 single chain around, join with a slip stitch.

Final round hdc with black around. Join with a slip stitch. Tie off and weave in ends.
